And We're Back
Thankfully, Intrepid Attorney General Samson has stepped up and decided to fish for another lawsuit. This is why we love him: Months after the price of oil started sliding he decided to start checking for price-gouging, wondering why there was a shortage of gas following a hurricane.
(Something tells me that the hurricane had something to do with it. I didn't even need a subpoena to come to that conclusion.)
Now, he's fishing again, this time with Entergy. I'm curious to which plaintiff's attorney is behind this, and which campaign contributor, I mean, civic-minded barrister, put the idea in Samson's mulleted cranium. This, despite the fact that the Public Service Commission actually regulates them, and should be handling things.
I love the get-rich-quick schemes these guys have come up with over the years. They've got Fred Flintstone and Ralph Kramden beat hands-down.

Joe the Plumber Gets Stalked
But we shouldn't worry. Barry Messiah is a transformative figure according to the squishy cons who have endorsed him. Maybe they will be our section leaders when we're being reeducated.

A Preview of Things To Come?
http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/nationworld/chi-obama-mediasep17,0,6325137.story
Item #2: North Korea is developing an engine for an ICBM capable of hitting targets on the Pacific Coast of the US. Remember, Barry opposes "unproven missile defense systems." He lumps them in with "misguided defense policies." He also wants to slow the growth of new weapons systems. He wants to get rid of all nuclear weapons. He also loves unicorns, too, I'm sure.

Chavez Blames the Jews
The cultural ministry has published articles talking about "the Jewish Question" using a yellow Star of David crossed with a swastika. The authorities are raiding Jewish centers looking for weapons (perhaps they fear 'the Jewish street' rising up against them?). A recent article has suggested expelling the Jews from Venezuela (welcome to the 12th century, Hugo!)
People wonder why we here at the GRS are fervently opposed to economic crackpots and left wing looneys? Hugo's a prime example. Totalitiarian, paranoid, take-no-prisoners, blame the rich nuts have a place, but it ain't in power. The media in Venezuela is run by the state, the economy is run entirely by the state, and the state is run basically by Hugo Chavez' fiat. Despite billions in oil revenue from Citgo-a wholly owned subsidiary of the Venezuelan government-the government is spending more than it's taking in. It's as a warning to the rest of us in the civilized, western world that pie in the sky socialism leads to a loss of our freedom and dignity, and, for some people, their safety.

These Boots are Made for Quaking
No wonder the FBI keeps him out of the loop on investigations, as Sid Salter intimated on his blog during the campaign (Sorry Sid-I can't find your blog on that Labyrinth you guys call a website)-his buddies were all about to get popped by the Feds. In all honesty, this has got to torpedo so many of Samson and the Godfather Mike Moore's plans in the coming years. Heck, it cuts into their campaign finances significantly. It's gonna make those Friday night poker games a lot lonelier, and the pot's gonna get a whole lot smaller.
Somewhere, all those people who've been squashed by Dickie and Joey and their buddies, who've lost a job because of their orgy of lawsuits, who've had their names drug through the mud in the press, who've been pushed and intimidated, are sitting back, cracking open a cold beer, and enjoying life just a little bit more.

We Report, You Laugh Hysterically
I know this morning there was lots of crying from the Franks people.
--Us here at the Tank, last night, upon reading the CL's endorsement of Phil Bryant
The best parody is self-parody. When I predicted weeping and nashing of teeth from the Franks people, I thought that they'd at least do it in private, and not dare the state's preeminent political journalist (change your adult diaper, Minor-I'm not talking about you) to publish a critical, rambling, whiny letter in his blog. Yet today, we find that they didn't take it near as well as I thought they might. See Sid Salter's blog entry today:
http://www.clarionledger.com/misc/blogs/ssalter/sidblog.html
We've said for a long time the Franks campaign was in trouble. The main problem with the Franks camp, in my mind, has always been Mr. Franks; but apparently the whole darn group of them is outside of their minds when it comes to critical press coverage, which they've had so very little of during the campaign. If there was any way that the Clarion Ledger could justify endorsement of a Democrat, they'd do it. The problem was that the more Mr. Franks opened his mouth ("Crime is not a real issue," "My clients weren't guilty," "I can't recall that case," "I don't know anything about that," "He won't debate me," "Queers," "Whip your ass," etc) the less people liked him.
It's apparent the candidate surrounded himself with a bunch of people who thought the same way that he does: That power can be achieved through bullying, harrassment, and ruthlessness. The letter Sid published in his blog today reflects that perfectly. We've seen that here on this blog, as well:
Allow me, if I may be so bold, as to impart to you a tale of rancid putrid desperation at its finest. This is a story, not about Mr. Franks, but about a man obsessed with him—the chronicle of *REDACTED*—an effete *REDACTED* driven to madness by his hatred for Mr. Franks. My point is this, *REDACTED*: If a you have such loathing in your heart for one man (Mr. Franks), and such a yearning deep in your loins for another (Jeremy Martin)—should you be allowed to continue *REDACTED* of our fine state?
And if you missed that, what about this:
...your utter cowardice when asked to account for your own identity, let alone whatever might be wrong with it...If you’re so ashamed of the man you’ve become that you can’t even handle signing your work, a skill that even most kindergarteners seem to have mastered, then clearly your problems extend far beyond any threat I could make....Please do me a favor and call him up on his cell phone (REDACTED) or at REDACTED (REDACTED), call up REDACTED
So this isn't something new, Sid. This is something that's been going on for some time and is probably not going to change anytime soon. I'm glad to have company amongst those who have been harrassed, libeled, cussed and cajoled by the Franks people. You join me, Jeremy Martin, JT and Dave, Paul Gallo, Mark DuVall, Donnie Epps, and countless others. We'll invite you to the club meeting sometime. You'll enjoy it.

Hampton, On the AG
I wonder, though, did he ask him about why he never looked into Ike Brown's shenanigans? About why the killers/kidnappers of two young women in the Tupelo area have never been found or prosecuted, despite 15 and 10 years passing (I can answer that question, and it has a lot to do with Hood's future ambitions to move from one executive branch office to another as to why certain old murders are prosecuted, and others are not)? Was there a question in there regarding the statement that he didn't know if a federal judges' ruling applies in Mississippi? About the Ethics breach earlier in the year? About why he was so out of the loop with the Feds in the Beef Plant investigation, and about why he admitted knowing wrongdoing was going on in Benton County's elections while District Attorney yet doing nothing? About why Shannon Police Chief Bobby Spencer's murder remains unsolved a decade after the fact (I've got a theory or two on that one, as well)? How about the rumors of upcoming indictments of candidates unfriendly to his agenda?
Do I even need to mention the fact that he prosecuted a schoolteacher for campaign finance fraud, yet gave 91 members of the state legislature passes for what amounts to a paperwork mistake? About the state resources that were spent to recoup a $300 civil fine and an amended 24 hour finance report?
Tell me you asked those questions, Dave. Tell me you did. 'Cause otherwise you weren't doing your job.

Candidates Afraid of Indictment?
Of course the charges will be trumped and there'll be no lasting legal impact, but when's that ever stopped these guys? Heck, this time they're not even waiting for the election to put people in jail.
By the way, let me go ahead and issue this denial for you, semi-anonymous spokesman for the AG's office: "The Attorney General's office has no plans to indict any candidate for office in 2007. The claims are ludicrous, and not based at all in reality but in idle speculation. The Attorney General does not prosecute people for their political affiliation, nor does it avoid action on that basis."
Yeah, where exactly would I get the idea that people who make the mistake of crossing one of Hood's buddies might end up in jail? Who would ever get the idea that Samson plays favorites?

Signs, Signs
And the sign says "Dirty Moneychanging Republicans Need Not Apply"
So I put my Reagan biography under my arm and I went in to ask him why
He said you look like a fine outstanding young man, I think you'll do
So I took the book out, I said "Imagine that, huh, me campaigning for you"
Signs, signs, everywhere there's signs
Messin' up the electorate, breakin' my mind
Vote for this, don't for that, you can't keep the signs
And the sign says "Anyone running against Jamie will be jailed on sight"
So I jumped the fence and I yelled at the house
Hey! What gives you the right!
To put up a Jamie sign, but to kick Jeremy's down
If God was here, he'd tell it to your face, man, you're some kind of clown
Signs, signs, everywhere there's signs
Messin' up the electorate, breakin' my mind
Take this one, don't take that, you can't keep the signs
Oh, say now mister, can't you read
You got to have a spotless Democrat record to get a seat
You can't run, no you can't vote, you ain't supposed to be here
And the sign says "You got to have a membership card to get inside"
Signs, signs, everywhere there's signs
Messin' up the electorate, breakin' my mind
Vote Haley in, vote Steve out, you can't keep the sign
And the sign says "Everybody welcome, come in, remember to pay"
But then they passed around a plate at the end of it all
And I didn't have a penny to pay
So I got me a pen and a paper and I made up my own campaign sign
I said, "Thank you Hood for looking out for me, but I was doin just fine"
Signs, signs, everywhere there's signs
Messin' up the electorate, breakin' my mind
Steal this, then burn that, you can't keep the sign
Signs, signs, everywhere there's signs
Messin' up the electorate, breakin' my mind
Deny this, deny that, you can't keep the sign

451 LFU Where Are You?
It seems that at least one video has surfaced of a campaign sign theft in Tupelo. The video shows a man in a black car, plate #451 LFU (how apropos!) stealing a Haley Barbour sign at a stop sign and knocking over an Everett Dustchke (the opponent of Steve Holland of the Holland Dynasty) sign. He then drives to the Shelton Law Firm offices in downtown Tupelo and puts the sign in his trunk.
The video is available on YouTube, under the heading "Do You Know This Sign Thief," and the Daily Journal has video on its 'Behind the News' section online. We here at the Tank have heard rumblings that there may be more than one video and that there are other prominent folks depicted therein.
Excellent job Leesha Faulkner of uncovering this and putting it out there for all to see.
My take: I've said on here for a long time there are numerous sign-burning parties in Lee County. Someone just finally provided video evidence of it.

Bryant-Franks, the Debate
From the Franks for Lt. Governor Campaign, For Immediate Release
The rules have been set for the Lt. Governor debate between candidates Rep. Jamie Franks Jr. and State Auditor Phil Bryant. The debate will be held on the planet Vulcan. The format of the debate will be trial-by-combat in the traditional Vulcan manner.

When asked for his response to the format, candidate Franks responded, "I stand for traditional values just like my fellow working men and women. Phil Bryant is a queer and I'll whip his ass."
Bryant responded, "This is stupid. Who came up with these rules?"

Franks spokesman James Hull, when asked about the use of Vulcan rituals for a Lt. Governor's debate in Mississippi, stated, "Those fairies Jeremy Martin and Mark Duvall and Paul Gallo had no concept of it either. We sheathe it with rituals and customs shrouded in antiquity – you humans have no conception. It strips our minds from us; it brings a madness which rips away our veneer of civilization. It is the election–the time of debating... There are precedents in nature... the giant eel-birds of Regulus Five. Once each eleven years, they must return to the caverns where they hatched. On your Earth, the salmon. They must return to that one stream where they were born, to spawn – or die in trying."

To which Bryant responded, "That's gross. You mean he gets off on it?"

Mr. Franks replied, "This proves that he's just a gay blade who's a puppet of the even bigger gay blade, Haley Barbour. I had hoped I would be spared this, but the ancient drives are too strong. Eventually, they catch up with us... and we are driven by forces we cannot control – to return home, and take an office... or die."
Veteran columnist Bill Minor weighed in, noting that the reluctance of Bryant to debate "proved once again that Bryant has no substantive answer to Franks' platform-which is very strong in the areas of education, cigarette taxes, ritual combat, and the ass-whipping of queers, of which he is an expert without peer."
Clarion Ledger editor David Hampton added, "Jamie Franks is a well-funded candidate who hits many of the issues of import to working class Mississippians where Bryant is the weakest-most notably the issue of violent bloodsport."
The debate will occur whenever sissy-boy Phil Bryant stops cowering in fear from his well-deserved ass-whipping.

I Am Honored
Apparently, in the last 48 hours, a moonbat by the name of 'Hammer of Logic' has decided to declare war on Phil Bryant through the blogosphere. Yes, because Phil Bryant is getting such a free pass from the press (Stop that laughing, people! I mean it, this guy's serious!) and has *gasp* gotten an endorsement from Donald Wilemon, and has a lot of signs in Rankin County.
Air America, you'll remember, was the liberal answer to Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, Laura Ingram, etc. It's currently on life support, because they just aren't as good as the originals. And because, to be honest, liberals just aren't funny. It's not in them. The most humorless people in the world are on the left. You can see it below. All self-righteous and high and mighty, but no humor.
The second reason is that they're serial harassers. Seriously, folks, calling people looking for phone numbers? Begging for calls? Harassing people at work? Libelous statements online that could get you in hot water?
I mean, I could go after this guy like there's no tomorrow. I could publish his phone number, go through his garbage, follow him around, and accuse him of dogfighting or something of that nature. But it'd really say more about me than him if that happened, wouldn't it? I'm an adult; I don't have to do that. Sadly, others are not and do have to.
No, the point is to make a critic-an anonymous one, but a critic none the less-be quiet through threats and harassment. It's not like there's no tradition of anonymous criticism and commentary in America, either.

No, my anonymity is for a number of reasons. First and foremost is to protect myself from personal attacks, once again, like the one below, because most of the time the left attempts to kill the message by killing the messenger. Secondly is to protect my employer from harassment. Thirdly anonymity makes the blog NOT ABOUT ME. I can't stress that enough. Sadly, I'm sure this fool will begin another campaign shortly in hopes that I'll give up and go away and nobody will be there to question the Golden Boy.
I won't be visiting my imitators' site, so I hope he enjoys himself over there. And I'm not gonna worry about him near as much as he's worried about me, that I can assure you.

I Guess He Got Someone Smarter to Do It This Time
I disagree with your assessment, REDACTED. “The first refuge of the truly scared” is to bury your head in the sand and hope no one recognizes your ass. But I’m not scared, and I hate to bust your bubble of fun, but I am not trying to scare you either. I just want openness and fairness.
Sure, that's why phone numbers were posted in the reply. I suppose posting someones personal line and work phone and asking people to call it isn't harassment. I've never asked anyone to harass anyone else. I've just asked that a closer look be taken at a man's record. I've also never taken a shot at him he didn't deserve, or was blatantly false-like calling someone a homosexual, for instance, oh, master of logic.
This site has never, and will never, be about me. It is about Jamie Franks, though.
You know, REDACTED, there is an old saying where I come from: “if you can’t take the heat, get out of the kitchen.”
Seems like I've struck a nerve.
We say some things where I'm from, too. You can't always get what you want. America, love it or leave it. He's dead, Jim. Take a picture, it'll last longer. Stop and smell the roses. Help is on the way. All that, and a bag of chips. Hold your horses.
You are a walking contradiction, REDACTED. You cower behind a blog and use it as vehicle to—most often baselessly—attack folks and call them out because of some obvious personal vendetta, yet your immediate reaction to any attempt to hold you to even the most basic level of accountability is to hide the facts.
Once again, when it becomes about me, I'll give you a call. Oh, wait, you didn't post your phone number, tax returns, blood type, stool sample, and hair color! Hypocrisy! Hypocrisy!
Why the double standard, REDACTED? You are upset that Mr. Franks is not subjected to enough scrutiny; yet merely subjecting you to having your own name called is suddenly an “attack” worthy of denouncement!
Because I'm not, and ain't never gonna be, runnin' for office. By the way, the whole 'you're so flamingly gay and obsessed' thing? That's an attack.
You claim to be providing a public service, enlightening your readers to the alleged flaws and debasements of a political figure, yet the hypocrisy inherent in your utter cowardice when asked to account for your own identity, let alone whatever might be wrong with it, robs your argument and position of even a modicum of speciousness, given your refusal to stand behind the claims you make.
If there's something I've said that's not true, let me know. I'll be waiting, just like Osama is on that court summons. Once more, Socrates, If I've said something untrue, feel free to point it out.
You know, REDACTED, if you cannot find within yourself the intestinal fortitude to lend your name to what you say, then why should anyone attribute any credibility to your words? If you’re so ashamed of the man you’ve become that you can’t even handle signing your work, a skill that even most kindergarteners seem to have mastered, then clearly your problems extend far beyond any threat I could make.
Ashamed? Wow. Most people who've known me most of my life are proud of me. Heck, most people who know me actually like me without having the motive of sucking at the power teet. I can't say that about everyone. Another strategy of the desperate: Attacking the messenger.
To the fine readers of this blog: all I am asking is for REDACTED to face the music, as he so often calls on Mr. Franks to do. Please do me a favor and call him up on his cell phone (REDACTED) or at REDACTED (REDACTED), call up REDACTED and ask him, for the sake of openness and fairness, to not delete my post this time.
So typical. Pressure someone who won't give you what you want into doing it with threats and intimidation. I'm sure everyone who will call that number will be so nice and civil that it'll make your stomach churn. You can dress it up in as many big words as you want, but it's still the same thing.
The Candidate and the Fine People Who Support Him
You really nailed it in your title—desperation IS a stinky cologne!
I’ll bet there are a lot of *REDACTED* who would be willing to weigh in on the subject, what do you think, *REDACTED*?
What fine people support this gentleman. Nothing I've said has been refuted. There's not one thing saying I've been wrong about even a comma. No, the first refuge of the truly scared is to try to scare those opposed them into silence-and of course, never using fact, only innuendo and threats.
When they coined the phrase 'politics of personal destruction,' this is exactly what they were talking about. Not shady business deals, not running around with people you aren't married to, but this very thing. Trying to silence a critic, not with an actual fact, mind you, but using the old stage magician's trick of distraction, by threatening some fearful revelation (which exists entirely within their minds) in order to shut the ordinary man up. It's a scare tactic, but guess what? I don't scare easily.
Mr. Franks would do well to ask himself why he and so many of his supporters are fixed upon labeling people 'queers,' though. Sounds like a bad hang up to me. I'd think to suggest that Mr. Franks himself penned the above reply, but I wouldn't go that far-after all, he didn't threaten to whip my ass, did he? And effete is such a big word, too. I bet he'd have to have Steve Holland tell him what it means and how to spell it.
A Christian who's more pious than the pope should denounce this type of attack. But I get the feeling that won't be forthcoming.
Once again, I suggest to Mr. Franks' supporters who come visit my site daily: Stop looking around every corner for who is doing the writing and ask yourselves, "Why is this person writing this-with obviously very little to gain?"
