YEAAARRRHHHH!

The Screamer, that good friend of Monty Rushgrove, will be stumping for Obama in Hattiesburg and Jackson soon, according to YP.

Will Monty and Snidely show up? Or will they avoid their party's chairman like the plague?

If they're so ashamed to be Democrats, and disagree with a man who is so vehemently pro-abortion, pro-government, pro-tax, the question is...why are you Democrats in the first place?

A Few Years Ago In National Review

They ran this cover story on The Screamer:

Today, I ask you, members of the Mississippi Democratic Executive Committee:

Please nominate this man.

Nothing would do my heart more good than to see Jamie Franks Jr. made the head of the Mississippi Democratic Party. I've really felt so bad for the Golden Boy since he was walloped to the tune of 59-41 in the election last fall. There's only so much a man can do with a huge house and lots of money in the bank. And let's face it, the man's had little to do since tort reform made his life a lot less cluttered with frivolous lawsuits.

So please, Dems, put this man in charge of your party. Sure, I hear you out there now, Jere Nash: The guy screams at people. He collects enemies like Tom Brady collects hot women. He's supposedly pro-life (though c'mon, Jere, you know he's never really done anything that's even remotely pro-life other than fill out a few questionnaires). He ran once as a 'defender of our culture and heritage' and championed spending $14 million on a special flag election. He can't win without 4-1spending advantages or being handed a seat. And he has a political tin ear. You know what I say, Jere?

So what?

Give the Golden Boy another chance. After all, what other unaccomplished state legislators are putting in for the job? And hey, how much fun are we here at the Spot gonna have for four years? After all, his campaign for Lt. Governor was our original raison d'etre. It's a win-win for everybody, Jere.

If I May Channel My Personal Hero, Ricky Bobby...

Dear 8 pound 11 ounce baby Jesus...

Please, please, please let the Golden Boy successfully obtain the state Democratic Chairmanship.

There is nothing I'd love better than to watch Jere Nash, the Kossacks, the JFP, Howard Dean, and the national Democratic party squirm as Jamie Franks screams, pounds, threatens, and spikes the podium for them for a term. After all, the Clarion-Ledger comments section has already begun filling with Democrats (strategically?) questioning his Democratic bona fides due to his (purely hyperbolic) statements on God, guns and gays.

Folks, there is no one more Democrat than Jamie Franks. He is loyal to the Democrats to a fault. He passionately hates the Republican party, everything it stands for and everyone in it. And that's about the end of his positives for them. He's combative, mean, short-tempered, and an easy target for folks like me who love to point out the differences between his public persona and his personal actions. There's his diarrhea of the mouth, and his penchant for threatening to whip the ass of anyone who gets in his way. Plus, he won't go on Gallo. He absolutely refuses to, which is a positive of Wayne Dowdy. At least he gave us a view of life on whatever Fantasy Island he was living on twice a month.

It seems that he just can't get out of Bill Wheeler's shadow, as well. If you'll remember, Wheeler was pounded by Roger Wicker in the 1994 election to replace Jamie Whitten. Following that, he left House District 19 (where his successor was-shocking!-his current law partner, one James R. Franks Jr.) and became the state Democratic party chairman.

We here at the Spot certainly welcome the effort of Mr. Franks to lead the Democratic party. We're sure it'll be a train wreck on the level of...well, his disasterous campaign for Lt. Governor, in which he proved that he has a political tin ear and a lack of polish, not to mention falling for the 'crime issue' rope-a-dope that our current Lt. Governor put on him. Politics ain't checkers, it's chess.

So good luck. I'm waiting with baited breath for this one. I feel a claim of the day revival coming on...

The Scream Returns

Recently, DNC chairman Howard YYYYYEAAAAAARRRRRGGHHHHHHHHH! Dean suggested that the Republicans 'look like the 1950s and sound like the 1850s.'

Sounds good to me.*

* Yes, I know Lincoln was president during the 1860s.
