Since it's the week of the fourth, obviously, blogging will be light for the remainder of the week, what with my stuffing my belly and hitting golf balls (and then swearing at them for not going where I wanted). But if you're interested, check out Tom Franklin's excellent book, Hell at the Breech. It's part of my summer reading list (though that project is going way too slowly right now) along with CS Lewis' Abolition of Man, and Ayn Rand's Anthem.
Anyway, Happy 4th. Though I'm sure you will, remember while you're celebrating to say a prayer and give thanks for those men and women who are serving our country abroad, and those who have sacrificed their futures for our own. If you would, remember what the men who founded our country were risking when they signed the Declaration of Independence-as they put it, their lives, their fortunes, and their sacred honor. Every one of them risked the hangman's rope by putting pen to paper, and the least we can do is reflect on what they risked so that the world would have a United States.
