Since a JT/Dave Caller Brought It Up

Tort reform, tort reform, tort reform. Now that it's helped us tremendously in bringing in manufacturers, everybody loves it. Even Jamie Franks Jr. loves it, even though he motioned to kill it before he voted for it (good move, Jean-Francois).

But what about it tickles the base of my skull, jogging my somewhat-erratic memory?

"If your child died in the operating room, wouldn't you want the doctor to pay?"

A direct quote from Jamie Franks Jr. on the subject. I don't know if Mr. Franks has ever lost anyone close to him before, but I have. There's no amount of money that can replace a loved one. While it might make me feel better for a while, that's not going to replace anyone I love. What it will do, however, is put someone who probably did their dead-level best to help someone out of a job. There's no point in spreading out misery, but I guess when you're soliciting for business at a funeral that's par for the course.
